‘Escape to Yadom’ explores the cultural and emotional significance of yadom, a Thai herbal inhaler. After moving to London and being unable to find yadom easily, the project investigates its ingredients, manufacturing process, import context, and material possibilities. Through recipe experiments, model making, and material testing with wood, brass, aluminium, and jesmonite, the project reimagines yadom as a refillable, long-lasting object. The project transforms a mass-produced disposable item into a meaningful, durable design that connects personal memory, Thai identity, functionality, and craftsmanship.
